Absolutely I agree with what you're saying here. Note that nowhere in the article do a make a case that men's behaviors are any more forgivable just because the root cause is insecurity driven.

Men can be dangerous and unpredictable when their pride is hurt, and that is something I would hope could be solved by addressing how men are socialized. In the meantime, unfortunately, as unfair as it is, a lot of women are going to have to find ways to protect themselves by finding strategies to cope.
